Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the following policies and procedures established for the day-to-day general accounting functions and tasks of Insurance Office of America.
Essential Functions:
Reconcile insurance carrier and broker payable transactions against premium cash receipts or premium financing.
Ensure timely processing of insurance carrier and broker payments, escalating payment issues to management as necessary.
Process to include utilizing agency management system reports that help to proactively identify carrier liabilities that are able to be paid.
As assigned, manage the internal check request process, including but not limited to, payments to insureds for returned premiums, unique carrier funding transactions or payments to premium financing partners.
Independently research and resolve open insurance payable transactions to ensure a proper AP Aging.
Proactively work with internal operations team members to resolve premium billing issues, processing adjustments as needed.
Compile and electronically archive supporting documentation for completed carrier and broker payments.
Complete required administrative support as assigned, including but not limited to, printing carrier or broker invoices, printing check requests or obtaining W-9s from carrier or brokers.
Develop relationships with the Company's carriers and brokers accounting representatives.

Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required, however an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or accounting is preferred.
Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
Experience with Applied - Epic (agency management system/general ledger) is preferred.
Entry level - 1 year previous accounting or finance experience preferred.
Excellent administrative, multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to pay strong attention to detail Ability to analyze and problem solve complex issues Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word Job Type:
