You will need to love working with dogs of all sizes, behaviors, and obedience skills.
The K9 Keeper (dog trainer/kennel keeper) is the builder and retainer of our foundation.
You set the tone for our team to perform at our highest efficiency and quality, by turning out high quality dog training and delivering exceptional service and care to our boarded dogs.
You are responsible for the dog's safe care and understanding of the Sit Means Sit Training System.
You must be committed to and show a genuine interest in working with the dog by offering positive solutions and rewarding success.
Our dogs vary from young puppies to adults in need of obedience and/or behavior modification.
Dog training is a demanding, skill-oriented profession that requires the ability to effectively communicate with dogs as much as people.
A love of dogs, strong communication skills, and empathy are essential to this role.
You will be on your feet most of the day and must be comfortable with cleaning kennels and the messier aspects of pet care.
Responsibilities Complete dog training assessments, reports, and feedback forms on time Diagnose obedience and training errors, determine corrective action, and communicate proper solutions Maintain area cleanliness and equipment.
This includes kennel, outside runs, and training rooms.
Always operate in a safe manner; must complete and pass Dog Safety Training Follow all company's procedures and protocols regarding Dog Training Quality and our Training System Ensure that our dog receive the highest quality care, have kennels that are clean, safe and secure, and that all steps are taken to maintain their good health Alert management immediately if any dog is abused, attacked, sick, or in need of medical attention Be a resource for others to support consistent achievement of goals; enlist help to accomplish common tasks Self-evaluate performance, create a plan for improvement or growth, and work with management to execute Cooperate with the entire team and share information across the organization; always look for ways to provide feedback and opportunities for improvement Assist in the loading, unloading, and stocking of materials to ensure we are well stocked and that inventory counts are accurate; request reorders as needed Maintain a safe, clean, climate-controlled environment for all dogs which includes cleaning, laundry, sanitizing kennels, and cleaning training areas Feeding and caring for dogs of all sizes and energy levels Walking dogs, conducting training sessions, and being an active member of the team Assist the front desk staff with check-ins, check-outs, and other tasks Accurately, quickly, and efficiently complete other duties as assigned Requirements Must be willing and able to work with dogs of all sizes, obedience, and energy levels Previous dog training or kennel experience and/or owning a dog with strong obedience skills preferred Knowledge of the care and handling of dogs and identification of appropriate and inappropriate dog behaviors Sharp mental focus and consistent attention to details Excellent communication skills; must be able to speak and write coherently in English Quick learner, flexible, and strong listener Skilled at identifying issues / problem solving and moving to resolution Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively; works pleasantly with others under pressure Strong writing and record keeping ability Willing to self-evaluate, be open to and provide feedback, and work well with others in a fast-paced environment If owns a dog, keeps personal dog up to par with demo dog etiquette Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, and adapt to changing work schedule Will be subject to random drug screening Must be able kneel, bend, and stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds Job Type:
